Artist Trading Cards

Artist Trading Cards (ATC) are miniature artworks done on paper the size of playing cards and are usually traded when finished.  You can do anything you want on an ATC including drawing, painting, collage (cutting up paper or magazines and gluing the pieces down in a different way).  Here are some awesome examples!

6th Grade Self-Portrait Doodles

This project serves as a great opportunity for the students to really get creative and express themselves. We started by making a signature Artist Trading Card (See post above for more pics of ATC's) by painting the background of a card, adding their initials and patterns, and finally they made a custom sticker of their face!  The rest of the drawing and painting shows the student's interests and personality.  Very fun project!
"I liked this project because I could express myself and who I am in it."
"My favorite part of the project is how I got to express myself in art freely."

8th Gr. Street Art- Stencils

For this project, students created a stencil of an original design about something they care about.  They learned about positive and negative space and creating bridges in their drawings to alter them in order to create a strong stencil.

They also made stencils on transparent paper and put them around the school in a location that enhanced the meaning of their piece.

One-Point Perspective Drawings

Objects Flying at you in 1-Point Perspective
Students learned how to draw in one-point perspective.  Drawing in perspective helps the artist achieve realism, depth, and space in the artwork.  They also considered the composition of their artwork and carefully balanced the objects on the page.  Click on the "6th Grade Art" to see more awesome artworks!
